Confinement, turkey tractors, free range with secure night houses, or secure perimeter with covered roosts or shelters all have been used successfully to raise heritage turkeys. The right choice is often obvious after consultation with the predator population on your property. It is recommended that turkeys not run on land contaminated by chickens dropping, because of a disease called "Blackhead" introduced in the late 1800's, and deadly to turkeys.
